Transportation Security Administration agents working at the Sheridan County Airport are among the more than 60,000 Department of Homeland Security employees affected by an ongoing congressional funding stalemate.

Despite not receiving pay, TSA officers in Sheridan continue to report for duty. While federal websites are limited during the lapse in funding, multiple reports indicate that hundreds of TSA officers nationwide have resigned since the stalemate began.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Sheridan County Commissioner Nick Siddle said Airport Manager Robert Gill approached him about a program designed to support TSA officers at the Sheridan County Airport during this time.

Federal ethics regulations prohibit TSA officers from accepting cash or checks, even during a funding lapse. Organizers are instead asking the public to provide assistance in other ways.

In compliance with federal regulations, donors are asked to place items in designated collection bins located at the airport and not hand items or gift cards directly to TSA officers.
