An arraignment hearing was held Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 33-year-old Shawn Kyser. During the hearing, Kyser pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree and one count of incest. The alleged criminal activity occurred between 2020 and 2021.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a #4 stack three-day jury trial to begin August 31. A pretrial conference will take place July 23 at 9 am. Kyser’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Sheridan County Circuit Court. If convicted on both counts, Kyser faces up to 35 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000.

Also arraigned Tuesday in District Court was 49-year-old Jennifer Case. On March 5, 2026, Case was arrested by the Sheridan Police Department for allegedly sexually abusing a minor between November 2025 and February 2026. At Tuesday’s hearing, Case pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree.

Dates for trial and a pretrial conference were not scheduled at the hearing. Case’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were set in Circuit Court. Sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree if punishable by up to 50 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
