A rockslide that occurred late last week on a portion of the Tongue River Canyon Trail prompted a temporary closure of the trail. Staff with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and the Bighorn National Forest Service are in the process of developing a plan to reopen the trail.
According to information from the Forest Service, on Thursday, April 23, a large band of rock broke into slabs and fell on the trail, blocking access and causing significant damage. The trail will remain closed on Game and Fish land until the debris can be suitably cleared. The trailhead, and access points downstream of the trailhead remain open.
