Sheridan Commission Accepts De-Annexation Report

Sheridan County’s Commissioners considered the De-Annexation Report for a portion of Lot 2 of the Rees Addition in Dayton.

County Planner Mark Reid spoke on the petition.

Reid further explained that the report does not make a recommendation for or against the de-annexation petition.

Commission Chair Christi Haswell said the commission would not be voting to approve or not approve the annexation, only the report on the petition.

The petition, if approved by the county commission, would then revert back to the Dayton Town Council for their consideration.

Public comments were offered against the de-annexation petition.

The commission voted to approve and accept the report, but were not necessarily in favor of the de-annexation.

They said they would accept the decision of the Dayton Town Council.
