Two sentencing hearings were held in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan Thursday. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

On July 18, 2025, a Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper pulled over an SUV on I-90 near Sheridan for speeding. The traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Brandon Pierce from Washington State. Pierce was arrested for multiple offenses, including felony possession of a controlled substance – Marijuana, for being in possession of an amount greater than three grams, and misdemeanor driving without an interlock device.

At sentencing Thursday, District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached with the State and sentenced Pierce to 2 ½ to 4 years in prison for the felony charge, suspended in lieu of a split-sentence of 60 days in jail and six months of unsupervised probation, and 30 days in jail for the misdemeanor charge, concurrent to the sentence for the felony.

Pierce was ordered to pay $450 in court costs and assessments and $500 to the State of Wyoming for public defender fees, and was given five days credit for time served of presentence confinement. Pierce was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center where he will serve his jail sentence.

Also sentenced Thursday was 21-year-old Tyler Parks. Judge Phillips accepted the plea agreement reached between the defendant and the State and sentenced Parks to 2 to 4 years in prison for the charge of felony theft, suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation. Parks was ordered to pay $325 in court costs and assessments, $200 in public defender fees and $4,935 in restitution to Black Bear Construction, jointly and severally with co-defendants Kolby McDougall and Cadence Norris.
