Extended public hours will be offered at the Wyoming State Capitol throughout the summer, providing additional opportunities for residents and visitors alike to explore the historic building. Now through September 26, the Capitol will be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and weekday hours will be extended from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. According to information from the Legislative Service Office, the expanded hours are intended to accommodate increased summer visitation and improve access to the Capitol’s public spaces and exhibits.
The public is also invited to explore the new Civics Lab located in the Capitol Extension. Designed for students in grades 5-8, the Civics Lab brings the first five articles of the Wyoming Constitution to life through an immersive, hands-on experience. In a vibrant, cartoon-inspired setting, students explore the three branches of government through interactive learning exhibits. Developed in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Education, the Civics Lab offers students an engaging and standards-aligned approach to civic education.
Additionally, on July 4 starting with a parade at 9 a.m., the Capitol Square will host a full-day celebration commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. The event will include Capitol tours, Wyoming history talks, live entertainment, food trucks, and a firework display. Activities are designed to provide a meaningful and memorable experience for all ages, and to highlight Wyoming’s role in America’s 250-year history.
