Continuing efforts to support the workforce behind the workforce, the Wyoming Interagency Working Group on Childcare, will open another round of childcare provider grants aimed at expanding care in the Cowboy State.
The grant program, administered by the Wyoming Community Foundation, was launched in 2025 and has since distributed nearly $235,000 to 29 childcare providers throughout the state. The goal of the grant funding is to help make childcare more sustainable in Wyoming communities. This allows parents who need to work or want to work the ability to do so. It also helps support businesses.
Childcare shortages remain a challenge across Wyoming. Over the past decade, the state has lost more than 200 licensed childcare providers, declining from 721 in 2014 to 508 as of November 2025. Limited childcare options impact not only families, but also employers and local economies. The Working Group on Childcare announced the grant program is taking applications until July 15, 2026. Grant awards up to $10,000 per applicant will be distributed with a renewed focus on expanding access to care. Information on how to apply for a grant can be found here.
