The Wyoming Game and Fish report that Kurtis Youse transferred to the Story Hatchery fish culturist position in March. He had previously worked as a fish culturist at the Clark’s Fork Hatchery for six years.

Youse earned a degree in fisheries and aquatic sciences from Colorado State University in 2016. During college and after graduation, he worked in northeast Colorado for Colorado Parks and Wildlife as a technician on the state’s native fish sampling crew.

In a WG&F report Youse said he grew up loving to fish and wanted to work with fish.

According to Game and Fish, Youse was hired in 2017 by the Department and has held various jobs, including on the statewide spawning crew based in Pinedale, at the Tillett Springs Rearing Station and the Daniel Hatchery.

Youse said he likes interacting with the public and Story Hatchery is the most visited hatchery in the state providing him with a lot of opportunities to get the Game and Fish message out there.

Youse added that he is excited to explore the Bighorn Mountains this summer and find new areas to fish.
