Recently, the Sheridan County Board of Commissioners issued a news release about fire safety. As a follow up on that, at the Clearmont Day Celebration on June 27, Chris Thomas, County Fire Warden had a 3-D display to educate community members about how to keep their property safe from wildfires.
To illustrate what homeowners can do to protect their homes, he had a doll house on display, giving a more visual representation of what to do.

There was a lot of literature available as well for people to pick up for more information.

Using these techniques can protect your home in case of a wildfire, Thomas said.
One can access the survey on-line, and all input is valuable to create a fire plan for the county. Now it is time to provide your input and concerns regarding the wildfire risk in Sheridan County. Questions include How Concerned are You about the risk of wildfire? What do you think your current insurance would cover in case of a wildfire? Are you familiar with ‘home-hardening?’ Are there obstacles preventing you from implementing defensible space and home hardening measures? The survey takes around 15-30 minutes to complete.
There was an emergency plan checklist that had a magnet to be attached to the refrigerator for quick reference in case of a fire threat.

He also had information about ‘Ready, Set, Go,’ A Wild-land Fire Action Guide for Saving Lives and Property through advanced planning. One can see more about this on the Wyoming Forestry Page. wsfd.wyo.gov There is information about wildfires on the page.
