Unemployment rates for June in Sheridan and Johnson Counties are below where they were compared to both the previous month and to the same time in the previous year.
The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June 2026 was at 3.2%, which is down from 3.4% in May and unchanged compared to June of last year.
The US Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June was at 4.2%, which is down from 4.3% in each of the previous 3 months, but up from 4.1% in the previous year.
Rates in Sheridan County dropped from 2.5% in May to 2.4% in June, while Johnson County’s rate dropped from 2.4% to 2.2%.
Sheridan County’s new rate is below last year’s rate of 3.2%, while Johnson County’s new rate is lower than last year’s rate of 2.7%.
The Department says rates normally decrease in June due to seasonal job gains in many sectors such as construction, leisure and hospitality, and professional and business services.
The lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming for June was in Teton County at 1.7%, while the highest rate was in both Niobrara and Sweetwater Counties at 3.4%.
Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 2,500 jobs from June of ‘25 to June of ‘26.
