The City of Sheridan recently solicited proposals from qualified consultants to perform an automated pavement condition assessment and comprehensive inventory of assets located within the City’s right-of-way. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has more.
The City’s last pavement condition assessment was completed in 2019. The City Council, under the consent agenda of their latest business meeting, approved the selection of MDS Technologies for the Sheridan Pavement Condition Assessment, and authorized Public Works Director Hanns Mercer to negotiate and execute a professional services contract in an amount not to exceed $100,000 for an automated pavement condition assessment and right-of-way asset inventory.
City Engineer Thomas Morneau says that a new assessment is necessary in order to provide current and accurate infrastructure data to support maintenance planning, rehabilitation programming, and long-term capital improvement planning.
Morneau said a significant enhancement to this project, compared to the 2019 assessment, will be the integration of all collected data into Cartegraph, the City’s Enterprise Asset Management software system.
