The Wyoming Department of Transportation will install traffic lane delineators at the signalized intersections of Coffeen Avenue at Avoca/Sugarland, Sugar Lane and Brundage Lane.
This localized infrastructure update is designed to improve overall roadway guidance and reduce traffic conflicts for residents and visitors traveling through one of the area’s busiest commercial corridors.
To minimize disruption to local businesses and daily commuters, crew members will perform all installation work exclusively at night.
The work is scheduled to begin on Sunday, August 23, from 4:00 PM until the work is completed – schedule and weather permitting.
The primary objective of installing these delineators is to enhance safety for the traveling public.
By physically and visually reinforcing the median separation, the delineators will prohibit high-risk left-turn conflicts at approaches near the signalized intersections.
The added visibility helps drivers clearly distinguish turning lanes from opposing traffic lanes, minimizing unexpected crossovers and reducing the risk of broadside collisions.
The City of Sheridan Public Works Director, Hanns Mercer, is in support of this decision.
Motorists traveling on Coffeen Avenue at night can expect minor, short-term traffic shifts or temporary lane closures around active work zones.
WYDOT advises drivers to stay alert, obey posted work zone speed limits, and exercise extra caution around crew members and equipment.
This initiative reflects WYDOT’s ongoing commitment to proactively addressing safety on state-maintained roadways in Sheridan County.
