The Cabin Springs Fire was reported on the afternoon of Sept. 24, 2026. It is located about 7 miles east of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office has issued “Ready” and “Set” statuses for residences and cabins near the fire. Please visit wyo20.com for details. Air and ground crews were able to limit fire growth over the night, and it is currently reported at 130 acres. Although there are no closure areas currently identified, fire commanders would like to remind the public for their safety to stay out of the Smilo Road/Sand Draw area.
A Wyoming Type 3 Team has taken command of the fire. Multiple organizations including the U.S. Forest Service, the Wildland Fire Service, Washakie County, Ten Sleep Volunteer Fire Department, Worland Fire, Wyoming State Forestry, and local vendors are working together to directly suppress the fire to minimize its size and impact, where it is safe to do so. The fire is burning in ponderosa, juniper, and grass fuels. Hot and dry weather is expected over the next two days with rain forecasted on Sunday, Sept. 27.
