How to apply the interest accrued from government funding was an item of discussion at this week’s Sheridan City Council study session. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
According to City of Sheridan Treasurer Darla Hawkins, the City previously allocated a portion of its American Rescue Plan Act funding to Sheridan County in support of a Housing Land Trust project. While those funds were held by the County, interest was earned on the ARPA funds. Following the completion of the applicable ARPA funding period, Sheridan County returned the City’s portion of the interest earned in the amount $70,700.
Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger says Habitat recently reached out to him about the funds.
Mayor Bridger, along with Councilor Bev Leichtnam are scheduled to meet with Habitat representatives Friday to discuss the allocation of the ARPA interest funds. The matter is expected to be an agenda item at the Council’s next regular business meeting.
