The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors has announced they are accepting applications for an interim chief executive officer following the departure of Josh Dorrell, who led the agency for seven years.

According to a news release, this appointment is expected to last approximately nine to 12 months while the board prepares to recruit a permanent CEO. Applications will be reviewed as received until the position is filled.

The transition comes as Wyoming prepares for a new gubernatorial administration in January 2027. According to the release, the role is designed to maintain operational stability, strengthen relationships across Wyoming, and lay decision-ready groundwork for the Board and incoming state leaders, while preserving the next Governor’s and Board’s ability to set final strategy and direction.

The interim CEO will oversee daily operations, support staff, work with elected officials and community partners and help shape the permanent CEO search.

Potential applicants are asked to possess senior-level economic development experience and a record of leading organizations through transitions. The position is based in Cheyenne, with flexible work arrangements possible and regular travel throughout the Cowboy State is required.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume and three professional references to wbc-applications@wyo.gov. Questions may be directed to Operations Director Chava Case at chava.case@wyo.gov or 307-777-2823.
