Election Integrity Top Priority in Johnson County

June 27, 2022

Election integrity is on a lot of voters’ minds, especially after the 2020 election, but according to County Clerk Vicki Edelman, that shouldn’t be a concern for voters in Johnson County.

She said the voting machines used in the county are made by ES&S machines, not Dominion machines, which were at the center of the 2020 controversy.

She explains more about what is done to ensure everything is on the up-and-up.

Edelman said the ballots then go through the machines as the voters fill them out and they are counted on election night.

The memory sticks are removed from the machines and they are brought back to the courthouse by law enforcement officers where they are processed and a report is issued with the voting results for the county.

Edelman said there is always a double-check of the machines after the election.

Edelman said voters in Johnson County can be confident that with all of the precautions and procedures in place, that the votes are counted as they are cast.
