The Hospital Board of Trustees for the Johnson County Healthcare Center have approved funding for the budget for Phase II of their current capital construction project.
Shawn O’Dell, with O’Dell Construction, gave a presentation to the board at their recent meeting, telling them the preliminary estimated budget for Phase II was $8.5 million, which includes a $150,000 contingency fund.
With that $8.5 million, the total cost of the project so far, including Phases 1A and 1B which are currently under construction, is roughly $15.9 million.
The board discussed options for funding the project, but felt confident between grants, loans, and funding from the hospital and the hospital foundation that they could move forward with approval.
Phase I of the project is adding new patient rooms, remodeling the nursery, and a new nurse’s station.
Phase II will add a new physical therapy area and remodel the clinic, cardiac rehab, COVID evaluation and old Hospice areas and add a new clinic entrance.
Phase III, which is still in the early design stage, will add Hospice inpatient rooms, private patient rooms and other improvements.
