Gillette Man Sentenced in Federal Court for Methamphetamine Distribution

A Gillette man was recently sentenced in federal court in Wyoming for distributing methamphetamine. United States District Court Judge Nancy Freudenthal sentenced 53-year-old Brett Scheeler to eight years in prison for possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. Scheeler will serve five years of supervised release following prison and was ordered to pay $5,000 in community restitution and a $100 special assessment. The crime was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Coppom.

In an unrelated case, Judge Freudenthal sentenced 64-year-old David Young of Casper to 46 months’ imprisonment,  and three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The crime was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
