A Sheridan man who is charged with a felony was arraigned in Fourth Judicial District Court Thursday. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Trial Date Set

On July 18, 25-year-old Turner Taylor was charged with one count of aggravated assault and battery for an altercation that took place at a business in Sheridan on July 14. According to court documents, Taylor allegedly grabbed an individual by the throat with both hands and strangled the victim.

Taylor, at an arraignment hearing in District Court Thursday, pleaded not guilty to the aggravated assault and battery charge. District Court Judge Darci Phillips set a #5 stack two-day jury trial for December 12 and scheduled a pretrial conference for November 10 at 11 am. The #5 stack means there are four other jury trials scheduled for that date. Phillips granted a request to modify the defendant’s bond by expanding the GPS monitor that he’s wearing to allow him to travel to Johnson County for work and family matters. Aggravated assault and battery is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of not more than $10,000.
