Inflation in 2022 hit some areas harder than others, and Wyoming did not get off easy.
According to a new report from the Wyoming Economic Analysis Division, the Wyoming cost of living index from the 2nd quarter of 2021, to the 2nd quarter of 2022, was up 10.1%.
That’s the highest increase since the third quarter of 1981, which was up 11.8%.
Transportation costs were up 16.4%, food was up 15.6% and housing was up 8.6%.
The cost of living index is determined by the amount of inflation and each county’s cost of living.
Teton County had the highest index increase.
Sheridan County had the 5th highest, and Johnson County had the 10th highest.
The index also included rental rates and in that report, Johnson and Sheridan Counties had the 2nd and 3rd highest percentage increase respectively in house rentals, and Sheridan County had the 2nd highest percentage increase in mobile home rentals.
