JCRHCD Board Waives Stand-By Admin Fees, Continues Stand-By Fees

During the Johnson County Rural Health Care District Board meeting this week, President Britni Camino brought up for discussion the stand-by and administration fees that were implemented by the previous board last fall that were to begin being charged at various events beginning January 1 of this year.

Camino said she had contacted both the school board and fair board, who said they had only been made aware of the change within the last couple of weeks, though that was questioned by the Kaycee Ambulance Service and Buffalo EMS, along with others on the board.

The policy for the fees was implemented to help offset the costs for Buffalo EMS and Kaycee Ambulance Service for an ambulance and personnel to be on-hand at football games, high school rodeo events, as well as other events like the rodeo during the county fair and other similar events.

The fees set by the board last fall included a $75 fee per event as well as a $75 administrative fee to be assessed per season, that the current board found confusing.

After more discussion, the board voted to permanently waive the administrative fee, but continue charging the stand-by fee at events that are not Johnson County taxpayer funded.

They also voted to allow charging at the remainder of events at the discretion of Buffalo EMS and Kaycee Ambulance Service.
