The Johnson County School Board, during their meeting this week, approved a new program designed to assist young students in preschool and kindergarten to more easily transition into a school setting.
District Superintendent Charles Auzqui commended Kaycee School Principal Jake Evans and his staff for the work they have done putting the program together.
According to information on the district website, the Kaycee Kinder Boost Program will be a “unique balance of preschool and Kinder readiness for children ages 4 and 5. The program will enable staff and parents to plan for their child to enter Kindergarten in Kaycee. It will be designed to make family connections with home visits, prepare children for school routines, provide families with resources, and develop social skills for attending school.”
The cost of the program, which will be implemented during the coming 2023-24 school year, is just over $11,000 according to the district.
