Sheridan resident Bev Leichtnam has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Sheridan City Council. Leichtnam, in a media release, said she has a profound sense of duty and commitment to the betterment of the City of Sheridan and that the City is brimming with potential, but it is also faced with complex issues that require thoughtful leadership and decisive action. From improving our infrastructure, to fostering economic growth, from ensuring fiscal responsibility to promoting public safety, there is much work to be done.
Leichtnam said she believes in the power of our community, collaboration and compassion and listening to the voices of all residents, regardless of their background or circumstance. Leichtnam was employed with the City of Sheridan for 25 years in a variety of positions and she feels this historical background ensures that she will be a champion for transparency, accountability and progress. Leichtnam currently serves on the City Planning Commission and is working with the current City Council in developing their Strategic Plan. She is a board member of the Miss Indian America Collective and currently represents Precinct 2-3 as a Committeewoman.
There are three seats on the City Council that are up for election this year, as the terms for Councilors Steve Brantz, Kristen Jennings and Shawn Day will conclude at the end of 2024. The Wyoming Primary Election is August 20 and the General Election will be November 5.
