SPD: One event under investigation, arrests up, incidents down for WYO Rodeo weekend

Chief Travis Koltiska and Captain Tom Ringley of the Sheridan Police Department appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to talk on policing the events during this past WYO Rodeo weekend.

For the remaining weekend, SPD leadership gave credit to the WYO Rodeo board and their open communication between agencies and organizations, who they said always do a great job planning with the SPD, making minor improvements every year.

Arrests were up for the year, but the Chief said total incidents that required SPD involvement were down from previous years.

The Chief said safety and security within the city for one of Sheridan’s busiest weeks of the year is a team effort with the City of Sheridan Public Works, Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office and the Wyoming Highway Patrol. 

The SPD will evaluate the week through an After Action Review and work with organizers and the City to make possible improvements for next year’s events.
