A trial date has been scheduled for a Ranchester woman charged with animal cruelty. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
A three-day jury trial is set to begin on January 12, 2026 in Fourth Judicial District Court for Jeniffer Miller. At a recent arraignment hearing in District Court, Miller pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony aggravated animal cruelty. Miller was arrested for the alleged crimes on July 20, 2025. A pretrial conference will take place in District Court on December 11 at 10 am.
According to court documents, on July 19, the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible animal cruelty at a residence on Soldier Creek Road in Sheridan County. When the Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived on scene, two dead dogs were discovered in a mud room in the back of the residence that Miller was renting. The affidavit of probable cause states that the two dogs were locked in the mud room with no access to food or water and that the mud room was not temperature controlled. Each charge of felony animal cruelty is punishable by up to two-years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000
