Sheridan’s NAMI Chapter Helps Residents Find Connection and Hope

October 10, 2025

News – Sheridan Media

The Sheridan chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is continuing its mission to provide free mental health support, education and advocacy for the community, ensuring help and connection are never out of reach. Every service, group and workshop the organization offers is open to the public at no cost, a commitment meant to remove barriers that often keep people from seeking support.

During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, NAMI members Terri Markham and Rita Geary said that through the fall and winter, NAMI Sheridan will host a variety of support groups and educational workshops designed to meet people where they are, whether they’re coping with grief, navigating anxiety or building healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Among the ongoing groups is the Suicide Loss Therapeutic Support Group, which meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Led by licensed clinicians, the group offers compassion and connection to those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide.

Markham said this group may be the bridge some people need to begin to heal.
