Maturing Character and The Boy Wonder: actors talk inspiration for Hello Dolly!

Executive Director of the WYO Performing Arts and Education Center Erin Butler, along with cast members AJ Longhurst and Jacob Sullivan, made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to talk about the upcoming WYO Premiere featuring Hello, Dolly!.

Longhurst was part of a production of Hello, Dolly! 25 years ago. His first role in the play was very different from the one he’s performing now. He admitted he had a hard time imagining then that he would ever want to play Horace Vandergelder, but that has changed.

Sullivan plays Barnaby Tucker and says he draws inspiration for the character from an unconventional place.

The Premiere evening will include passed hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails at the cash bar. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in costume in the theme of the show or in attire that inspires them.

The WYO Theater Premiere of Hello, Dolly! will be Saturday, Oct. 18, in Sheridan. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the curtain at 7 p.m.
