The Sheridan Community Land Trust and Sheridan Area Search and Rescue are inviting families to take part in a Discovery Session focused on land-based safety awareness.
The interactive class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the SCLT Community Rooms, 14 Lane Ln., just outside of Sheridan.
The session is designed to help youth and families feel confident while exploring the outdoors. Topics will include hiking safety, trail navigation, wildlife encounters and emergency readiness. A team of trained Sheridan Area Search and Rescue volunteers will lead participants through real-world scenarios, map and compass demonstrations and interactive learning stations.
This is the first in a series of outdoor safety programs organized by the Land Trust. A Water Safety Awareness class is planned for May or June 2026.
The event is free and open to the public, with youth and families especially encouraged to attend. Find more information by clicking here.
