Each year, Sharie Shada, Site Superintendent at Kendrick Mansion State Historic Site, asks for volunteers to help decorate the Mansion to make it festive for the upcoming holiday events.
On November 22, around 25 volunteers of all ages came to help trim the trees and decorate the rooms of the historic home of Senator John B. Kendrick.

Sharie Shada,
Grace Heiman, volunteer at the Kendrick Mansion this past summer, said she is enjoying her first decorating day, “It’s exciting, and very lively,” she said. “It’s really fun.”

Several of the volunteers talked about the decorating day. Jayme Ackerman and her daughter Amara were attending the event.

Shelly King also volunteered at the event. She said she had been to Kendrick Mansion several times.
Cameo Ritterbush said she has been helping with the decorating for about five years.

Teams were assigned to the different rooms, and the mansion was decorated from the third-floor ballroom to the lower level in a little over 2 hours. Lunch was served in the kitchen for those who wanted to eat.

Upcoming events include the Holiday Open House will be held December 5-6-7, and Christmas with the Kendricks will be held December 19 and 20. Go to the Trail End State Historic Site website for more information.

Shada said that the undecorating day will be held on Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to volunteer can go to the Kendrick Mansion website.
