A two-day workshop focused on soil health, grazing management and the business side of livestock operations will be held Feb. 27 and 28 in Sheridan. Topics will include winter feeding and bale grazing as tools to improve soil health, stockpiling forage and strategies to reduce feed and equipment costs.

The Sheridan County Conservation District has announced registration is open for the Working Lands Collaborative Workshop, which will be held at the Bridges Conference Center, 13 Lane Ln.

“Winter feed and livestock management is often one of the most expensive parts of an operation in the northern plains,” USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service District Conservationist Andrew Cassiday said. “This workshop will go deep on strategies to both plan for and manage winter feeding to optimize and achieve operational goals.”

District Manager Carrie Rogaczewski said the workshop will feature Steve Kenyon of Greener Pastures Ranching, a regenerative livestock producer based northwest of Edmonton, Alberta, and Caroline Wild of Wild Ranch Solutions in Parkman. Presenters will also discuss financial tools available to producers.
