Sheridan City Council Member Terry Weitzel, today, announced his re-election candidacy for the City Council.

“Sheridan is a great place to call home. As a community, we face many challenges to keep it that way,” said Weitzel. “We need conscientious, responsible leadership to keep our community moving forward.”

Councilor Weitzel supports initiatives that preserve the character of Sheridan’s downtown, backs local businesses, and believes in providing for a good atmosphere for balanced job growth while protecting quality of life. He is an advocate for more affordable housing in Sheridan.

Weitzel has been an advocate for ensuring that our community is safe and secure, providing adequate resources to maintain our streets, water, sewer, parks, pathways, clean waterways and trails while being attentive to the costs to taxpayers.

“Our vulnerable seniors are facing higher costs of living due to inflation,” said Weitzel. “I support initiatives that support nonprofit organizations such as The Hub on Smith that help our seniors.”

Weitzel is retired and has enjoyed serving Sheridan as an active City Council Member. Councilor Weitzel is the current President of the Sheridan Recreation District Board. He is proud of supporting the renovation of Kendrick Park Pool and looks forward to its reopening in June. Weitzel is a member of the Rotary Club of Sheridan, where he is a past President and past Treasurer. He is a current Area Governor of Rotary District 5440 which encompasses 51 Rotary Clubs in Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. Weitzel is a member of the Sheridan County Parks and Recreation Board and past President. He is an elected Republican Precinct Committeeman.

Weitzel has been married to his wife, Daphne, for nearly 40 years. They have a daughter and son-in-law who are teachers in Sheridan and enjoy the time spent with their two grandsons.
