Bringing people together is the theme for the upcoming Cheyenne Welcome Ceremony at Fort Phil Kearny.

According to the information from Fort Phil Kearny site superintendent Sharie Shada, there will be Northern Cheyenne Speakers on Cheyenne History and Culture, and drumming and Cheyenne Songs by the Last Bear Drum Group.

Dave McKee, president of the Fort Phil Kearny/Bozeman Trail Association, (FPK/BTA), said that the program will begin at 6 pm on Saturday, May 23.

“We will begin with an invocation. They ask that we not record the invocation or photograph the person giving it,” McKee said. “I will then turn it over to the event MC who will likely be Mark Roundstone, the gentleman who MC’d last year.”

He added that the drum group will present some songs, and filming and still photos of the event will be fine, other than of the invocation.

He said he hoped there would be dancers as well.

“Please bring your lawn chairs and learn more about our Cheyenne neighbors.” Shada added.
