Jason’s Friends Foundation is a nonprofit out of Casper that assists families in Wyoming with children who suffer from childhood cancer, brain or spinal cord tumors. Jason’s Friends creation was inspired by the life of Jason William Eades, who, at age eight, was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor. Eades battled cancer for 11 months before he passed away on November 11, 1995.

Sam Watson, on behalf of Jason’s Friends Foundation, read a proclamation at the recent Sheridan City Council business meeting, proclaiming September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Sheridan.

Watson said that since its inception 30 years ago, Jason’s Friends has expended over $9.4 million directly to Wyoming families with children with cancer, brain or spinal cord tumors, preventing financial instability and relieving much of their financial burden.
