The Wyoming Department of Health confirmed Wednesday the deaths of two Sheridan County residents attributed to COVID-19. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Sheridan County Resident Deaths Attributed to COVID-19

According to the Department of Health, an adult Sheridan County woman died earlier this month. She was hospitalized and did not have conditions recognized as putting patients at higher risk of serious illness related to COVID-19. An older adult Sheridan County man died earlier this month. He was hospitalized and was not known to have health conditions recognized as putting patients at higher risk of serious illness related to COVID-19.

The two deaths bring the number of Sheridan County resident deaths to 47 since the pandemic began in March of 2020. In the descriptions, “older adult” includes those over 65. Additional information about the individuals is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.  Deaths among Wyoming residents are added to the state’s coronavirus-related death total based on the location of a person’s permanent residence and official death certificate information. If death certificates do not describe COVID-19 as either causing or contributing to a person’s death, those deaths are not included in Wyoming’s count of coronavirus-related deaths.

Sheridan County added 15 new lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours bringing the total of lab confirmed cases in the county since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,953. According to COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, there have been four probable cases reported in the last 24 hours, adding to the total of 1,165 probable cases since the pandemic began. There have been four recoveries in the last 24 hours and there are currently 184 active cases of COVID-19 in Sheridan County. There are 16 residents currently hospitalized in Sheridan County battling the virus.
