A Buffalo resident approached the Buffalo City Council at their recent meeting to ask about the proposed aerial spraying that the US Forest Service plans for weed and sagebrush mitigation on the Clear Creek Watershed.
The chemicals that are proposed to be used could be harmful to the watershed and ultimately the city’s drinking water.
Frank Pratt asked if the city had received any assurances from the Forest Service about protecting the city’s water supply.
Mayor Shane Schrader said the USFS still has an outstanding Environmental Impact Study that isn’t yet complete, that should address the issue, but admittedly won’t protect the water supply itself.
Pratt asked, “So that’s an item that’s still in the works, then?”
Schrader said, “yes.”
