The Skijoring and bike race events scheduled for the 2022 Sheridan WYO Winter Rodeo has been canceled due to lack of snow.
Many other events will continue, according to Executive Director for Sheridan County Travel and Tourism Shawn Parker.
Parker and his team of organizers for the 2022 Sheridan WYO Winter Rodeo held out hope for snow as long as possible, but had to announce the skijoring cancellation.
“… it is no longer feasible that we will be able to host skijoring this year,” Parker said in an email. “Many other organizers in our region are facing the same issues with lack of snow, and have either canceled already or will make their announcements in the coming days.”
According to Parker, the rodeo weekend, Feb. 19 – 20, are forecasted to be warm, above 50 degrees fahrenheit. Melting much of what little snow exists.
Parker said it’s not all bad news though, many of the other events scheduled as part of the 2022 Sheridan WYO Winter Rodeo will continue as scheduled.
“Antelope Butte’s kickoff event, scheduled for next Saturday, Feb. 12, is a go,” Parker said. “So is the Black Mountain Nordic Club Moonlight event at Sibley Lake, also scheduled for the 12th. The Snow Ball at the Barn in Big Horn, is still scheduled for Feb. 17.”
Parker continued the announcement by asking sponsors to contact his office for a refund or allow a rollover into 2023.
“There would be no additional cost for next year. Just let me know, and we can make the proper arrangements,” Parker said.
