Winter isn’t over yet, and a reminder is on it’s way.
The National Weather Service in Billings, Montana has issued a winter storm warning for Sheridan County and for portions of southeast Montana, from 6am Sunday (February 20th) until 6am Tuesday.
Between five to nine inches of snow is projected in the lower elevation areas, the heaviest of which is anticipated between 6pm Sunday and 4am Monday.
Winds could gust as high as 30 miles per hour.
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses will likely become slick and hazardous, making travel difficult.
Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.
Cold temperatures will follow the snow.
Not factoring in wind chill, the low temperature Sunday night into Monday could drop to around zero degrees Fahrenheit.
Temperatures overnight Monday into Tuesday could dip into the negative teens, stay in the negative range all day Tuesday, and then possibly drop to as low as negative 20 overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
High temperatures may not get above the freezing mark until Saturday.
