On September 22, 2021, the State of Wyoming adopted the 2021 International Codes. City Public Works Director Lane Thompson said to retain home rule, the City must adopt the same codes as the State within six months. The Council this week approved third and final reading of an ordinance adopting the codes.

Thompson said along with the City being able to provide a much higher quality of service than the State would be able to provide, home rule also allows the City’s Building Department to review and approve building plans and perform all necessary inspections.
