Music among stars

The music of world renowned composer John Williams and his work with director George Lucus will be the topic of a lecture at Kinnison Hall.

Beginning at 7 p.m. on March 31, in Kinnison Hall for a Faculty Lecture by Dr. Christian Erickson titled “Major” Fourth Be With You: The Music of Star Wars.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Erickson told listeners his passion for music that has led to his successful career began as a young child with the Star Wars soundtrack composed by Williams.

Erickson holds degrees in music composition from the University of Wyoming, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Colorado and currently serves as The Chair of Visual and Performing Arts for Sheridan College.

The following Saturday, the Sheridan College Symphony Orchestra will perform a special Sci-Fi-themed concert beginning at 7 p.m. on April 2, in Kinnison Hall in the Whitney Center for the Arts. According to Director of Strings and Orchestral Studies Dr. Mark Elliot Bergman, the program will begin with Joseph Haydn’s Overture to The World on the Moon and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony. The finale of the orchestra will be a performance of John Williams’ Star Wars Suite.

The Sci-Fi-themed concert will begin at 7 p.m. on April 2, in Kinnison Hall in the Whitney Center for the Arts or live streamed here. Both are free and open to the public.
