The cities of Sheridan and Buffalo showed significant population increases from 2020 to 2021, according to statistics released by the US Census Bureau.
As of July 1, 2021 Sheridan showed a population of 19,095 while Buffalo’s population sat at 4,469.
Afton showed the highest percentage of growth with an increase of 2.3%, while Buffalo had the second highest percentage change with 2.2%.
Sheridan’s percentage change was 1.5% during the same period.
Sheridan’s population increase of 274 people landed them in second place in that category, while Buffalo’s increase of 96 people held fourth place.
By contrast, some cities lost population such as Cheyenne with 110 residents lost; Casper with 586 lost, Gillette with 574 residents lost; and Rock Springs with 285 lost.
As of July 1, 2021, the state’s population grew by 1,536 or 0.3%.
Wyoming’s population was estimated at 578,803.
Of those, 65.6% or 398,373 lived in incorporated areas of the state, with half of the residents living in 11 cities and towns with populations over 10,000 people.
