June 29, 2022

Candidates for elected positions in Cheyenne, and in Sheridan County that will eventually go to the capital city, had their chance to address the public to promote their respective campaigns.

On Tuesday (June 28th) the Sheridan County Chamber Of Commerce Government Affairs Committee hosted the 2nd part of its candidate forum ahead of the upcoming August primary.

Some, but not all of the Candidates for Wyoming Governor, Wyoming Secretary of State, Wyoming State Treasurer, Wyoming State Superintendent of Public Instruction, as well State Senate and State House Districts within Sheridan County attended, and each had time to answer various questions about topics such as economic diversity, firearm restrictions, property taxes, inflation, and funding subsidies for air travel to Sheridan.

Anna Bailey is the Committee Chairperson and was the moderator of the event.

She says soon everything will be in the hands of the voters, and many hope the voting process goes smoothly.

“A couple of candidates expressed maybe worry in the election of our voting system and they also talked about ways to ensure the integrity as we move forward and we need to trust it, we need to do what we can do to keep it valid and legitimate. It’s your voice in what goes on and so when things don’t go your way, you have nobody to blame but yourself if you didn’t show up and make your own voice heard.”

Absentee voting begins this coming Friday, July 1st.

The state election primary will take place on Tuesday, August 16th.
