In Bloom 2022 will feature archaeologist Professor Douglas MacDonald from the Department of Anthropology University of Montana. MacDonald specializes in Native American archaeology of the Rock Mountains and Great Plains of Montana and Wyoming will learn about how Native American Tribes utilized Yellowstone for 11,000 years from archaeologist Dr. Douglas MacDonald. He will tell stories, share experiences and insights from his time leading cutting-edge archaeological excavations in Yellowstone National Park.
While appearing on Sheridan Meida’s Public Pulse program, MacDonald told listeners that he was inspired to study archaeology while studying another subject during a trip to Mexico.

Since that time, MacDonald has been published for his work in Yellowstone multiple times and has also been featured in Smithsonian Magazine.
MacDonald said human activity in Yellowstone has been abundant for approximately 11,000 year.

MacDonald is also the author of Before Yellowstone: Native American Archaeology in the National Park, available for purchase in multiple locations.
In Bloom, a fundraiser hosted by Sheridan Media with and for The Sheridan Community Land Trust, will begin with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and desserts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 10, in the Whitney Center for the Arts lobby. MacDonald will give a talk and answer questions beginning at 7:30 p.m.
