An item of consideration at Monday night’s Sheridan City Council meeting was an employee retention and recognition incentive. This past summer the City of Sheridan conducted an employee survey in an effort to determine how the City could better financially help their employees. City Human Resources Director Heather Doke said staff agreed that a one-time bonus for all city employees would be the best option.
Doke said the employee bonuses will be based on years of service with the City.
Doke said the funding for the bonuses will come out of unspent salaries and wages that were budgeted in the 2023-24 fiscal year, but have not been spent due to unfilled positions. The City Council approved the retention and recognition incentive by a vote of 4 to 3. Councilors Andrew Patceg, Kristen Jennings and Steve Brantz voted against the employee bonuses.
