A trio of Big Horn High School students recently got a taste of what a future in the digital media and radio world might be like.

Juniors Ash Doke, Will Taylor and Shaelin Fitzgerald spent the day on Tuesday, April 30th touring, participating and job shadowing in various activities at the Sheridan Media studio.

The three learned about making commercials, understanding the day-to-day operations of the business, and about digital marketing to name a few.

Doke says he has an interest in wanting to start a podcast, and adds it’s more than just sitting down, pressing the record button and talking.

Taylor says he’s thinking about getting into sports broadcasting and/or sports marketing and adds there is more that goes on behind the scenes at a place like Sheridan Media than he realized.

Fitzgerald says she’s considering a career in graphic design, content creation and advertising.

She explains how her field of interest has changed over the years.

The job shadow opportunity is a component of the career exploration program that Sheridan County School District #1 is building, in support of the District’s Point B initiative, which is to foster a culture of career awareness, exploration and preparation throughout a student’s high school experience.
