News – Sheridan Media

Disaster loans are still available for areas of northeast Wyoming and southeastern Montana who were affected by last August’s storm. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
The U.S. Small Business Administration is reminding small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Sheridan County and the Crow Tribe of Montana that August 14 is the deadline to apply for low interest federal disaster loans to offset economic losses caused by the severe strom and straight-line winds that occurred on August 6, 2024. According to the SBA, the disaster declaration covers Sheridan and Big Horn Counties in Wyoming, the Crow Tribe in Montana, as well as the Montana Counties of Big Horn, Carbon, Golden Valley, Musselshell, Powder River, Rosebud, Stillwater, Treasure, and Yellowstone.
Under the declaration, SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program is available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofit organizations with financial losses directly related to the disaster. The SBA is unable to provide disaster loans to agricultural producers, farmers, or ranchers, except for small aquaculture enterprises.
The loan amount can be up to $2 million with interest rates as low as four percent for small businesses and 3.25 percent for PNPs with terms up to 30 years. Interest does not accrue, and payments are not due until 12 months from the date of the first loan disbursement. The SBA sets loan amounts and terms based on each applicant’s financial condition. More information on the disaster assistance and how to apply, can be found here.
