News – Sheridan Media

Sheridan-based artists Ashley Cooper and Nicky Swenson are inviting the public to Best of the Bighorns, a collaborative art exhibit that celebrates creativity, connection and community.
The project grew out of an award presented to Cooper and Swenson by the people of Sheridan. Cooper said the honor gave them the opportunity to join forces and present a one-of-a-kind exhibit.
As an art teacher, Cooper said she enjoys working in multiple mediums. She shared that one of the biggest challenges artists face is putting themselves and their work into the public eye. Cooper encourages young artists to take that risk and share what they create.

Swenson majored in music but has since found her voice in acrylic paint. Fresh from a residency in France, she has been capturing the gold and copper tones of light through mist on the French countryside. Swenson said she hopes to remind young artists that belief in oneself is the foundation of all creation.

Best of the Bighorns will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at 415 N. Main St. The studio is accessible through the alley. A portion of all sales from the exhibit will benefit the nonprofit Bought Beautifully.
