For country music royalty Tayla Lynn, coming to Wyoming isn’t just another tour stop—it feels a little like coming home. After all, her husband’s name is Cody. This week, the granddaughter of country legend Loretta Lynn—and alongside Conway Twitty’s grandson, Tre Twitty—is bringing one of country music’s most famous family legacies to Sheridan.
For Tayla Lynn, the music isn’t just something she learned—it was part of growing up. Some of her favorite memories are of singing alongside her famous grandmother.
“She was so kind and gracious to me and let me go on the road with her. I mean, I’ve done, you know, a thousand shows with her, I guess, and just watching the fans the first time realizing who she was to the fans. Like watching them react to her and being old enough to actually grasp what was happening, I think, was one of my favorite first memories.”
This isn’t just a tribute show. It’s a family tradition, with the blessing of both legendary families.
“You know, my grandmother really brought us together, so she helped develop the show. She would help us with the stories. She had a ton to do with it. Conway passed away in ’93, and his family has been so supportive of this show. His children, you know, are so supportive of what we’re doing.”
The show blends their own music with the country classics fans have loved for generations.
“Yeah, we do like Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man, Coal Miner’s Daughter, Hello Darlin’, Slow Hand, Only Make Believe. We try to fit in as many of their hits as we can in that 90 minutes.”
And while every audience has its favorite, Tayla says there’s one that she never gets tired of singing.
“Honky Tonk Girl would be my favorite. It’s the first song I ever sang on stage with her when I was about 14, and it’s the first song that she wrote in Coal Miner’s Daughter, you know, and in real life. So when I was a little girl, I’d watch Coal Miner’s Daughter every day cause I couldn’t see her cause she was gone so much, and I’d watch that movie and watch her write that song. And then later on, I recorded Honky Tonk Girl and she sang on my record with me, so it just holds a special place.”
TWITTY & LYNN – A Salute to Conway & Loretta perform at Kinnison Hall – Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College, Friday July 17th at 7pm.
