Sheridan County’s Commissioners considered an application for State Grant-in-Aid for Aviation Encouragement.
According to the information provided by Airport Manager Robert Gill, the Sheridan Pilots Association plans to host its airport open house on August 22.
The purpose of the event is to showcase the airport and promote general aviation among local residents through a pancake breakfast and beverages for guests, games for children, a five-act air show, and displays of aircraft and vehicles.
Additionally, the airport will display firefighting and other maintenance equipment.
The cost of the event is $45,000 which is funded through sponsorships and fundraising.
The State Grant-in-Aid, administered through the Wyoming Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division, provides $5,000 with no local match requirement and will be used for sanitary stations and to hire an air boss to manage air traffic and maintain safety.
The commission voted to approve the application for the grant.
