New home for Habitat for Humanity

July 20, 2022

Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns has announced the upcoming new location of Habitat for Humanity headquarters at 44 Fort Road.

The relocation and purchase is a strategic move by Habitat to consolidate all operations and programs into one location. The new facility will be a central location for the public to access construction offices, homeowner services & education, and operations of the Habitat Restore. The larger space will also allow Habitat for Humanity to add new programs which support current and potential homeowners and improves access to credit, overall allowing Habitat for Humanity to build more, do more, and serve more.

While appearing on Sheridan Meida’s Public Pulse, Executive Director Christine Dieterich informed listeners of the upcoming relocation and consolidation.

Habitat reports the cost of this new location is $1.45 million, with 60% of the funding already secured or pledged. Fundraising efforts for the remaining amount are officially underway and will be matched up to $200,000 by the Standish Family Fund.

According to Habitat, the administrative and construction offices will be relocated and open to the public Aug. 17. The Habitat Restore will continue operating normal days and hours at the 1141 Crook St. location through Aug. 31, 2022 and anticipates opening at the new 44 Fort Rd. location on Oct. 1, 2022. During the month of September, the Habitat Restore will be closed to the public, but still accepting donations of materials and supplies.

Habitat for Humanity appreciates the community’s support during this time and is proud to serve Sheridan County.
