House Passes Presidential Reform Act

Congresswoman Liz Cheney (R-WY) delivered closing remarks Wednesday afternoon in support of H.R. 8873, the Presidential Election Reform Act, a bill intended to strengthen the Electoral Count Act of 1887. The Presidential Election Reform Act was written by Cheney and Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) “to prevent other future unlawful events to overturn Presidential elections and to ensure future peaceful transfers of Presidential power.”  Cheney, in her closing remarks, said “we as individuals determine whether or not our institutions survive.”

Cheney also addressed the work of the January 6th Committee during her remarks.

The Presidential Election Reform Act passed on a 299-203 vote, with nine Republicans and all of the Democrats in the House voting in favor of the measure.
